Admission Requirements of Milan Conservatory

There are some important requirements for applying to Milan Conservatory. The application and admission requirements for undergraduate and graduate education can vary in general.

Application Requirements for Undergraduate Degree:

  • High school diploma / school leaving certificate or equivalent
  • Students who do not have a high school diploma can be admitted to a first-cycle degree course if they have exceptional talents and abilities, but this qualification must be completed in order to obtain an academic degree.
  • B1 Italian Language level

Application requirements for Master’s Degree:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent diploma
  • High school diploma
  • B1 Italian Language level

1 – Video & Audio Recording (Entrance Exam)

  • Valid for all departments and university transfers. It can also be recorded with non-professional cameras. However, recording should not include cutting, editing, filters, effects or any post-production.
  • Applicants must declare their first and last name at the beginning of the shoot and show an identity document in the room; should also attach the realized program in pdf format;
  • In case of the piano playing, the room should be placed in the upper right corner of the artist if possible.
  • Once the exam program is recorded, the videos need to be uploaded to a platform that allows to view without downloading. For example: Youtube, Google Drive, Vimeo and etc.

Attention: The chosen site should allow playback of the video for the entire recording period. It is therefore not recommended to use file sharing services such as “wetransfer”, where links have a temporary validity limited to few days.

2 – Rhythmic Theory and Music Perception Test

  • A theoretical and perception exam is available online. There are various test programs for preparation, undergraduate, and graduate degrees, but generally speaking, the exam material for applicants is focused on instrumental performance, aural training and the theory of music.
  • It is compulsory only for the entry to first-level preparatory and academic courses (three year courses).
  • Both tests are compulsory for admission to preparatory courses and first-level academic courses (three year courses), absence even in one of two tests will determine the ineligibility of the candidate. Entrance to prerequisite and second-level academic courses (two year courses) does not require the theoretical test but only the instrumental test.
