General Information About the University of Perugia

The University of Perugia, founded by Pope Clemens V in 1308, is one of the oldest universities in Italy and Europe. It’s highly regarded in terms of the quality of advanced research, education and services. With a score of 92.7 in the 2020-2021 ranking of CENSIS (Centro Studi Investimenti Sociali – Center for Social Investment Research), which has been ranking Italian universities for a long time, Perugia took the 1st place ranking of major public universities (from 20,000 to 40,000) and this has occurred for the seventh time in a row.

UNIPG was established in the Umbria Region, which we call the green heart of Italy; it’s famous for its art, music and natural landscapes. The University of Perugia aims to promote excellence in multiple fields of education and has received many official recognitions for the quality and dynamism of its academic structures. The university has 16 faculties and several centres of excellence and has approximately 35 thousand students, 1100 professors and researchers and 1100 staff.

University of Perugia provides grant support to its students by making agreements with more than 400 universities throughout the European Union in the Erasmus+ program and approximately 150 cooperation agreements with EU and non-EU universities. In this way, many international students come to the university and leave in the same way. Thus, students will always have the chance to get to know different cultures. There is also a language centre that teaches the Italian language to international students.
