General Information About NABA

NABA, abbreviated as Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, was founded in 1980 and is the largest private academy university in Italy. It offers both Italian and English education opportunities in undergraduate and graduate fields approved by the Italian Ministry of Education. At NABA, a student can improve their craft while preparing for the world of work.

For decades, NABA has worked and continues to develop relationships with prestigious design companies and studios. The main purpose behind making NABA’s academic methodology so successful and unique is that it balances the emphasis on applied practice with courses on art and design theory. 89% of graduates find employment within one year of graduation.

Where is NABA?

NABA campuses have two different campuses, one in Rome and the other in Milan .

Milan campus is located in Navigli, one of the most famous and beautiful places in Milan. This place is known for its historical texture and architectural beauty and covers a very large area consisting of 13 modern buildings and 17.000 square meters in total.

As a result of Rome’s central location, being a student in Rome provides easy access to all regions. The new NABA Campus in Rome is located in the Ostiense district, a former industrial area between the train station and the Tiber. Occupying two historic buildings from the early 20th century, the campus is today a creative and youthful place where artistic and cultural heritage meets contemporary culture. The new school here is in the center of the city, very close to Rome’s most famous archaeological sites and art museums.

NABA’s Opportunities for Students

NABA campuses cover a very large area with numerous private laboratories, study and recreation areas, and a library. NABA University, which has design laboratories and state-of-the-art equipment, is constantly renewing its classrooms. NABA has many private laboratories where students can use professional tools for complex and interdisciplinary projects in fashion design, media design and new technologies, and visual arts.

NABA students can benefit from a variety of special areas and rooms spread throughout the campus:

  • Study rooms provide a comfortable and peaceful environment for students to study between classes or in their spare time.
  • Computer classrooms, two computer classrooms, each equipped with IT workstations (Mac Os and Windows), are available to students during class hours.
  • There is a student lounge, a free and easily accessible common room with a microwave for a snack during lunchtime or between classes.

NABA Buddy Project

The Buddy Project is a fellowship project offered by NABA to assist international students in their first year so they can adapt more quickly.

The aim of the project is to create a network of relationships for incoming students and facilitate their integration. This project is also an opportunity to get to know other students and build relationships with students from all over the world and with Italian students.

Buddy is a volunteer student selected after a certain stage from students in the second and third year of the three-year department or the second year of the two-year department. Their roles on campus, in Milan or Rome, aim to increase the relational skills of international students and mingle with different friends.

Life in Rome

The origin of Western culture, the city of Rome, is a place where many historians and thinkers who have left their mark on history are educated. NABA Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum CEFRL B1 certificate for Italian courses (not older than 2 years)
  • For English sections; IELTS 5.0, TOEFL Computer 173-180, TOEFL Internet 59-64 (not older than 2 years)
  • 150 € application fee

Graduate Program Entry Requirements

  • A diploma or undergraduate degree is required for the applied departments. If not, the work you have done and the seminars you have attended that strengthen the bond between you and the department should be shown.
  • If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, you will be awarded a certificate upon graduation instead of a Master of Arts (MA) title.
  • Minimum CEFRL B1 certificate for Italian courses (not older than 2 years)

NABA Tuition Fees and Scholarship

NABA undergraduate tuition fee is fixed at €18,200 for non-European citizens based on the academic year 2021-22. Fees are paid annually. Education fees of European citizens differ according to their income level. If the student (and his family) has been residing in a country belonging to the European Union for at least 3 years and obtaining his income from Europe, the tuition fees are as follows:

NABA postgraduate tuition fee is fixed at €18,200 for non-European citizens based on the academic year 2021-22 . Fees are paid annually. European citizens , on the other hand, vary from 8900 € to 18.200 € according to the income distribution above.

For a one-year academic master’s program, NABA has set the 2021-22 academic year as €15,000 for European citizens and €19,000 for non-European citizens.

NABA offers its students many options for scholarship opportunities. Italy has a higher scholarship rate than other European countries. Students can benefit from the scholarship opportunities offered by the Italian state. Scholarship amounts in Italy vary between 2000 and 5200 Euros per year.
